YES, We are open for the season. Special Thanks to all of our new members,140 so far. Open play is welcome.

Welcome....

Welcome to the 2012 season of Crestwood Golf Club. This course has such a vibrant history, and we’re excited to be a part of restoring its’ proud tradition. We’ve often heard the course referred to as a real “gem” in our community, and certainly Crestwood has played a significant role in the fond memories of many area golfers. Beyond the dream of owning a golf course, Crestwood has special meaning to our family. It was in the late eighties on Crestwood’s lush fairways and rolling greens that Steve transitioned from being a casual golfer who occasionally played around the demands of his other sporting commitments, to a dedicated golfer determined to display his command of the game and achieve his goal of becoming a PGA Professional. Needless to say, from sun-up to sun down, we logged a lot of miles on that course, Steve swinging the clubs….Barb carrying them. The hard work paid off and in the two years prior to turning Pro, Steve was the Club Champion for Crestwood Golf Club. As you can see, this course is special to us and we’re committed to its revitalization.  Based on the overwhelming response we’re receiving from the community, we know it’s special to many of you as well. Thank you for your support and know that you can rely on us for first class golf operations, state of the art agronomy practices, and exceptional service. We have ambitious plans, with many changes that you’ll notice immediately upon arrival, and others continuing over time. This is the first step in restoring Crestwood Golf Club to a position of quality that provides the canvas for an exceptional golf experience. The course improvements section provides further details on our restoration plans and we welcome your feedback. Thank you for your support and our special appreciation to Adirondack Bank and Pat Bobrow, of Felt-Evans for being such a vital part of making our dream come true.

Sincerely,
Barb & Steve

Breaking News!!

The Men's locker room is complete. Lockers are free of charge and available on a first come, first served basis.

Accepting New Members, Leagues,
Tournaments, and Outings.

What's Happening......

....We have been busy working in the clubhouse getting things ready for the start of golf season. We are definately making progress. We're down to the final room for (interior) clubhouse improvements - the ladies locker room. The carpet for that room is being installed on Friday and the remainder of the renovations will be done shortly thereafter. Next up is finishing the exterior improvements and the BBQ pit.
.....GREAT NEWS!! Our member's have been reporting they are already seeing the changes on the greens and enjoying how their putts are rolling out. Alan, our Agronomists explains that this is due to the introduction of proper mowing techniques. We've been cross-cutting the greens, creating lateral growth, resulting in better putting conditions. In late April we will be aerifying and topdressing, which will create a very nice putting surface for you.
.....The GHIN Handicapping system is installed. Offical posting begins on April 15th. Please note: If you have previously been a participant in the GHIN, you will need to use the same GHIN number in order to retain your previous scoring information.
.
....What's happened on the course? The road for the range has been cleared out and topdressed (and needs more so don't drive in yet please, MUD!). The range has been cut in. We have started mowing the scrub areas. Countless stumps throughout the course have been removed. The tree in the middle of the 8th fairway - GONE. (LOL, I'm suspicious of Steve's motives for that one!) The path between the 16th and 17th has been cleared out and topdressed. Restoration has started to restore the original tees on the 2nd hole.
....Did you notice that 3 out the the 4 matchplay finalists were playing PING? We can help you with that and hook you up with one of those Nome putters!
....Crestwood welcomes the League of Nations!
.....Crestwood's MEMBER / MEMBER is scheduled for June 9 & 10. Sign ups will be posted at the Club.
....We have been busy booking leagues, outings and accepting memberships. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Don't forget, leagues book early.
....The top question we hear.... "What about the greens?" The greens are just fine. There is no disease and we were fortunate that Alan was able to apply the proper treatment last fall. It's amazing what can be accomplished with the proper green mowers, aerifying, and top-dressing. Be assured, we are going to be very aggressive in our approach to the greens (no pun intended for those of you who know Steve's palying style) and you can look forward to seeing them return to the original greens complexes.
